Violence against women on the rise in Islamabad

Islamabad Police have released three months details of the Gender Protection Unit which show that violence against women on the rise in the federal capital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Islamabad Police have received 521 complaints of violence specific against women in the last three months.
According to police, complaints included beatings, sexual harassment, intimidation and use of obscene language.
Police details further elaborate that 217 complaints were received on Gender Protection Unit Helpline 8090, while 304 complaints were received in writing at the desk.
Cases have been registered against 10 people for abusing women, 467 petitions were disposed of while 44 incidents of violence are being investigated, the police said.
