Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan congratulating the newly elected body of Lahore Press Club (LPC) has expressed the hope that it would play its role for the welfare of journalists.

In a statement issued here on Monday, Dr Firdous felicitated the newly-elected LPC President Arshad Ansari, Secretary Zahid Chaudhary and other office bearers and said that it was obligatory for the newly elected body to resolve the problems of the journalist community. The new body would come up to journalists’ expectations and play its role for their prosperity, she added.

The SACM said that freedom of expression was essential for strengthening democracy in the country. She said that media is an important pillar of the state and it is hoped that the new body will fulfill its responsibilities in a professional manner.
