The Election Commission of Punjab has started work on holding local government (LG) elections in Punjab in the last week of April 2022.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the commission will complete the work on the issue of limitations of the local governments.

According to the Election Commission, local body elections in Punjab will be held in the last week of April 2022 and the final publication of constituencies in Punjab will be made on March 22, 2022.

The sources said that the election schedule will not be delayed after the completion of delimitation work because the election Commission is bound to hold elections within 120 days of the expiration of the term of local bodies.

Pertinent to mention here that the term of local bodies in Punjab is coming to an end on December 31, 2021.
