Govt’s anti-business policies affected traders in 2025

All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Chairman Atiq Mir and President Anjuman-e-Tajran Karachi Javed Shams expressed disappointment with the government’s anti-business policies during 2025, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Sunday.
All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran Sindh Javed Qureshi said that in 2025, businessmen miserably failed to get any relief from the government. Kagzi Bazar Association President Yaqoob Bali declared 2025 as the worst business year for the business community due to continued load shedding.
Iron Merchants Association President Hammad Puniwala said that heavy taxes and fluctuations in prices in the international market also affected their business.
These traders urged the government to provide relief to the business community and adopt business-friendly policies at the start of the new year.
They complained that during 2025, inflation, load shedding, and taxes have broken the back of business. Electricity, gas, and petrol prices have affected businesses.
Earlier in November 2025, Atiq Mirhas described the prolonged and severe electricity load-shedding in Karachi as catastrophic for industry and trade, posing a major barrier to the city's economic growth.
He urged the government to take immediate corrective action, warning that the city, once the "City of Lights," is now plunged into darkness, severely affecting businesses.
Mir pointed out that ongoing conflicts between K-Electric and electricity thieves have resulted in unbearable bills and unfair taxes for consumers.
Low-income users are struggling to afford electricity, and the number of illegal connections is rising. He emphasised that the government must urgently bring power tariffs to a reasonable level.
