Shoaib Malik addresses reports about fourth marriage, warns of legal action
Former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has strongly denied social media rumours suggesting that he has entered into a fourth marriage, warning of strict legal action against individuals and organisations involved in spreading what he termed as “false and fabricated” claims.
In a statement shared on Instagram on Saturday evening, Malik said that unverified stories about his personal life had been circulated without his consent, adding that his wife Sana Javed had also been subjected to negative remarks over matters she had no involvement in.
Social media speculation recently linked Malik’s name with an influencer, claiming that he had tied the knot again. The cricketer, however, dismissed the reports and expressed concern over the impact such rumours could have on his family, particularly his son Izhaan.
Malik had announced his marriage to actress Sana Javed in early 2024 following his divorce from Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. The former couple share a son, Izhaan. Prior to his marriage to Mirza, Malik was married to Ayesha Siddiqui, with whom he divorced in 2010 after eight years of marriage.
In his statement, Malik said he had always tried to keep his private life out of the public domain out of respect for his family, but added that his silence appeared to have been taken for granted.
He urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation, noting that while public figures are subject to scrutiny, invading privacy or damaging reputations crosses the line.
Malik further cautioned that failure to stop circulating baseless assumptions and jokes about his personal life would result in strict legal action from his team against those responsible.
