Asma Jahangir Group wins two key posts in Punjab Bar elections

The Independent Group, also known as the Asma Jahangir Group, Saturday won the two key posts of the Executive Committee of Punjab Bar Council (PBC) by defeating the candidates of the Hamid Khan-led Professional Group.
Advocate Tahir Shabbir Chaudhry clinched the top seat as Chairman Executive Committee Punjab Bar Council by defeating the opposition’s candidate Advocate Taufiq Asif. Tahir bagged a total of 47 votes while Taufiq garnered 28 votes through secret balloting.
Advocate Basharat Ullah Khan has been elected as Vice Chairman Punjab Bar Council by defeating Changaze Khan Kakar, a candidate of the Hamid Khan Group. Basharat got 47 votes and Kakar achieved 28 votes. At least 75 members exercised the right their vote in the election.
Newly elected Chairman Executive Committee Punjab Bar Tahir Shabbir Chaudhry belongs to Sahiwal while Basharat Ullah Khan belongs to Rawalpindi.
