The Lahore High Court has constituted a two-member bench to hear the petition filed by Yasmin Rashid against the new JIT to dig into a gun attack on ex-PM Imran Khan.
The Registrar's Office fixed the case for hearing on January 30. Justice Baqir will head the bench while Justice Syed Shahbaz will be its member
PIT leader Yasmin Rashid challenged the formation of a new JIT, requesting the court to annul the federal government's notification issued on January 22.
The petitioner made a request to the court for ordering the new team to halt working till the verdict.
The Punjab government constituted JIT on 15 January, and since the previous team was working, the formation of the new team is illegal, the petition maintained, adding that the formation of the new JIT is based on mala fide intention
The formation of the new JIT is in conflict with Articles 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10A, 18 and 19A of the Constitution, she said, adding that the court should declare the move to form a new JIT null and void
