Islamabad court issues non-bailable arrest warrant for KP CM Sohail Afridi

A district and sessions court in Islamabad Wednesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in a case related to allegedly making misleading allegations against state institutions and tarnishing their reputation.

The warrant was issued due to Sohail Afridi’s failure to appear before the court. The court directed law enforcement authorities to arrest the chief minister and produce him before the court.

The case was heard by Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah. After issuing the arrest warrant, the court adjourned further proceedings until February 10.

According to court records, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against Sohail Afridi under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

Further proceedings in the matter will take place on the next date of hearing.
