The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a tax of Rs20.6 million on star cricketer Muhammad Hafeez on concealment of assets, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday, quoting its sources.

Central revenue collection authority FBR claimed that Muhammad Hafeez hid Rs80.6 million from FBR in 2014, though he was audited in 2014, FBR sources maintained.

Hafeez was repeatedly given time to explain the hiding of Rs80.6 million but on getting an unsatisfactory response, the FBR sources said that now the authority has imposed tax on the cricketer’s wealth. Hafeez has appealed against FBR's decision, the sources said.

The TV channel said that recovery will be made after the decision of Hafeez's appeal.

Last year in November, Hafeez denied receiving a show-cause notice from the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) amid reports that the tax collection body is probing him for alleged concealment of assets.
