PA deputy opposition leader writes to CJP, demands transparency for PTI leaders, workers in May 9 cases 

Punjab Assembly Deputy Opposition Leader Moin Riaz Qureshi has urged Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure transparency in the provision of justice to PTI leaders and workers who were falsely implicated in May 9 cases, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

In a letter to Chief Justice Yahaya Afridi, Deputy Opposition Leader told the CJP that 9 May cases in various cities were creating constitutional crises, adding that May 9 cases were worst example of political victimization by the government against PTI workers and supporters. 

He contended that in recent days complaints have emerged about the extraordinary speed of the anti-terrorism courts in these cases. The letter claimed that anti-terrorism courts continue trials from morning till late at night. He demanded that an independent judicial system should be established and the legal validity of the May 9 cases should be examined, letter said. 

Deputy Opposition Leader demanded that court proceedings should be held within court time. He blamed that PTI workers and leaders were facing from mental and physical abuse in ‘baseless’ cases. He demanded of the CJP that the May 9 accused should be given access to counsel and transparency in court proceedings should be ensured, letter added. 

Moin Riaz Qureshi urged the CJP to curb and probe the misuse of prosecution and police in May 9 cases. He claimed that the rule of law was being affected due to lack of judicial independence. Moin Riaz Qureshi demanded of Justice Yahya Afridi to ensure the restoration of the independence of the judiciary and justice.
