Vehicles entering Islamabad will now have M-Tags pasted on them

As part of the plan to make Islamabad a ‘smart city’ on the orders of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, it has now been made mandatory for vehicles entering the federal capital to have an M-Tag pasted on them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday. 

From the security point of view, it would now be easy for the law-enforcers to track the location of such vehicles. 

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that tagging would enable the police and other law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) to know the location of vehicles beforehand. “This is an important development in terms of system security and management,” he added. 

The CDA chairman further said that the parking fee from M-Tag vehicles would be collected online. “This will enable the people to pay their fees without waiting in long queues of vehicles.” 

According to the Interior Ministry, M-Tags will take the federal capital towards a modern, digital system.
