Australia-bound ice drug hidden in hockey balls seized by ANF

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has intercepted a parcel destined for Australia at a courier office on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi, recovering 2.1 kg of ice (crystal methamphetamine) drug
cleverly concealed inside hockey balls, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The operation was part of a nationwide crackdown against drug trafficking that led to the arrest of six suspects and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics, liquor, and ecstasy pills.

According to ANF officials, five intelligence-based operations were carried out in Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Kala Shah Kaku.

During the raids, six suspects were arrested, while 213.381 kilograms of various narcotics, 204 litres of liquor (alchohol), and ecstasy pills were recovered. The estimated value of the seized drugs exceeds Rs1.5 million.

In Karachi, ANF officials searched a parcel at a courier office on Shahrah-e-Faisal that was being shipped to Australia. During the inspection, officers recovered 2.1 kilograms of Ice hidden inside hockey balls, foiling an attempt to smuggle the drugs overseas.

In another operation near the Kala Shah Kaku Toll Plaza, ANF officials stopped a vehicle and recovered 672 bottles containing a total of 204 litres of liquor. One suspect was arrested at the scene.

In Rawalpindi, ANF conducted a raid near Pir Wadhai, where officers recovered 7.2 kilograms of hashish (charas) from a vehicle and arrested three suspects.

In a separate operation near the GT Road Bus Terminal in Rawalpindi, ANF officials apprehended two motorcycle riders and recovered 100 ecstasy pills weighing 56 grams from their possession.

Meanwhile, at a courier office on Ring Road, Peshawar, ANF officials intercepted a parcel and recovered 30 ecstasy pills weighing 25 grams, which had been concealed inside a jar.

The ANF has registered separate cases against the arrested suspects under the relevant narcotics laws and has launched further investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
