Former federal minister passes away after prolonged illness

Former federal minister Malik Mukhtar Awan, a close associate of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) founder and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, passed away on Monday after a prolonged illness.

His funeral prayers will be offered at Abdali Mosque in Multan at 9:00AM on Wednesday (July 29).

Awan was among the founding leaders of the Pakistan People's Party and was regarded as a prominent political figure in Multan. He was widely considered the face and identity of the PPP in the city for decades.

Senior PPP leadership and other prominent political figures have offered condolences of the sad demise of Awan.
