Monsoon rains kill 109, injure 362 across Pakistan: NDMA

At least 109 people have been killed and 362 others injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan since June 26, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.

The fatalities include 48 children, 38 men and 23 women.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported the highest number of deaths at 55, followed by Punjab with 36, Balochistan with eight, Azad Jammu and Kashmir with seven, Sindh with two and Gilgit-Baltistan with one.

Of the 362 people injured, 263 were reported in Punjab, 80 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15 in Balochistan and two each in Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The NDMA said the monsoon rains and flooding had also caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure across the country.

A total of 799 houses have been damaged, while 379 livestock have been killed in flood-related incidents.

The rains have also damaged 25 bridges and around 23 kilometres of roads, disrupting transport and access in affected areas.
