Nawaz Sharif appointed head of Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board

Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has been appointed chairman of the newly constituted Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Local Government Department, the governor of Punjab approved the formation of the board with immediate effect.

The notification said the board had been constituted under the powers granted by the Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority Act, 2012.

Nawaz Sharif, who represents the NA-130 constituency in the National Assembly, will serve as chairman of the board.

The Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board is expected to oversee initiatives concerning the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of Lahore’s historic and culturally significant areas.
