President Zardari reviews progress on Sindh-China cooperation, calls for timely completion of projects

President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday reviewed the progress of various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and cooperation initiatives between the Government of Sindh and Chinese companies, directing that agreed projects be implemented expeditiously and all remaining procedural and technical requirements be completed at the earliest.

The president chaired a meeting at the Chief Minister House with Chinese delegations from Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Luoyang Modern Biology Group. The meeting, facilitated by the China-Pakistan-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Association, reviewed the implementation status of previously agreed areas of cooperation and discussed measures to accelerate their execution.

President Zardari was briefed on progress in cooperation covering electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, veterinary biological vaccines, animal identification and traceability, agricultural technology, healthcare, fire safety equipment and other sectors. The briefing also highlighted steps taken by the Government of Sindh to coordinate with Chinese companies and facilitate implementation of the initiatives.

The president said the government was fully facilitating Chinese businesses and investors, adding that Pakistan highly valued its All-Weather Strategic Partnership with China and remained committed to strengthening economic cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with CPEC 2.0 now underway. He said his regular visits to China reflected Pakistan's commitment to deepening bilateral ties and promoting mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

During the briefing on cooperation with Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., President Zardari was informed about the company's interest in manufacturing and supplying EV charging stations and developing related infrastructure in Sindh. Discussions also covered solar-storage-charging facilities, energy storage solutions, smart charging networks, technology transfer and training.

The president observed that Karachi and Hyderabad offered significant potential for EV infrastructure development, while the Karachi-Hyderabad M-9 Motorway could serve as an important starting point for intercity charging facilities. He expressed confidence that cooperation in this sector would support Pakistan's transition towards green mobility and contribute to the development of the new energy sector.

The meeting was also briefed on progress in cooperation between the Government of Sindh and Luoyang Modern Biology Group in the fields of veterinary biological vaccines and animal identification and traceability. The roadmap included the ongoing visit of the Chinese delegation, the planned visit of a Sindh Institute of Animal Husbandry delegation to China in August and technical work relating to the Sindh-08 strain of foot-and-mouth disease.

President Zardari was informed that vaccine trials in China and Pakistan were expected to conclude by November 2026, after which costs and implementation timelines would be finalised.

Appreciating the cooperation between the Government of Sindh and the Modern Biology Group, the president said the initiatives would strengthen veterinary epidemic prevention, improve livestock management, and enhance disease control and food safety.

He directed that all remaining procedural and technical requirements for the implementation of the agreed initiatives be completed at the earliest.

The president said the development of a modern animal track-and-trace system, along with cooperation in disease diagnosis and vaccine development, would improve livestock management and enhance the export competitiveness of Pakistan's livestock and livestock products.

The Chinese delegation included Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Chairman and Founder Tao Xu, China Africa & Asia Trade & Cooperation Promotion Association President Ms. Hao Yuejiao, Luoyang Modern Biology Group representatives Yao Shumli, Wei Xuefeng and Bai Xue, along with other delegation members.
