Court seeks arguments on petition seeking FIR against Donald Trump

An additional sessions court in Karachi on Saturday adjourned the hearing of the petition until July 7, seeking a court order to the police to register an FIR against the US President Donald Trump for flouting the Geneva Convention and international law by indulging in criminal activities, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The court directed the lawyer for the petitioner, Jamshed Ali Khawaja, also a lawyer, to give arguments in support of his viewpoint at the next hearing. 

Making the additional IG Karachi, SSP South and SHO respondents in his petition, Khawaja in his plea said that he went to different police stations and approached several senior police officials for the registration of an FIR against the US president, but neither his statement was recorded nor the case was registered.

The lawyer further said that Trump, by ordering an attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, not only put world peace at risk but also hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims in the world. “Therefore, it is prayed to the court to order the police to record my statement under section 154 of the CrPC and lodge a case against the US president,” he requested.   

Earlier, a district and sessions court had asked the lawyer to go to the court of an additional sessions judge for the registration of an FIR.
