The clips quickly sparked speculation online, with some social media users alleging that the singers had been drinking alcohol.
Responding through a video message, Bilal dismissed the rumours, saying they were completely false. He explained that he and Aima Baig were in London filming a music video and that the viral footage was recorded during the shoot.
Bilal clarified that the cups seen in their hands contained coffee, not alcohol. He urged people to watch the video carefully before making assumptions, stressing tha there was no truth to the claims circulating on social media.
Addressing criticism about how he and Aima were representing Pakistan, Bilal said no one needed to teach them how to represent their country. He added that he has proudly represented Pakistan through his music and talent for many years and will continue to do so.
The singer also expressed disappointment over the way the videos were secretly recorded and shared without their permission.
He further explained that just because some people around them may have been drinking alcohol did not mean he or Aima Baig were doing the same. Bilal urged social media users to fear Allah before spreading unverified claims and encouraged people to verify facts instead of believing rumours.
