Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz said on Monday that fresh elections in the country were need of the hour, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a party’s rally at Sarai Alamgir, she said that throughout his over three and a half years stint as prime minister, Imran Khan only victimized his political opponents through ‘selective’ accountability. “His ‘accountability’ only targeted the PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and others,” she said.
Maryam said now she remembered those words of former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in which he had said that those political parties which were formed overnight took no time in breaking up.
She said she would soon apprise the people of the reality behind the letter which the ‘selected’ prime minister had waved in front of a crowd at Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) rally in Islamabad yesterday (Sunday).
In a cheerful tone, Maryam proclaimed that it was time for people to rejoice all over the country as the ruling PTI had lost and the opposition had won.
Speaking on the occasion, Hamza Shehbaz, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, said that for about four years, the PTI government had been evading accountability. “And now it is time to take them to the task,” he said.
He said that people could not even afford Panadol because it had become so expensive, while there were long queues of people waiting for their turn to collect a bag of flour. “That’s why masses are yearning for PML-N’s rule in the country,” he claimed.
