Multan Sultans tharsh Islamabad United by five wickets in PSL 11 clash

Multan Sultans thrashed Islamabad United by five wickets in the fourth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11, successfully chasing down a target of 172 at Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Philippe struck 55, while captain Turner remained unbeaten on 43 to steer Multan home after Steve Smith made 31 and Arafat Minhas added 25.

Islamabad United bowlers Shadab Khan and Salman Irshad took two wickets each but were unable to stop Multan from reaching the target with five wickets in hand.

Earlier, Islamabad United scored 171 for eight after being sent in to bat, with Mark Chapman top-scoring with 40. Sameer Minhas made 28, while Devon Conway and Faheem Ashraf chipped in with 26 each.

Momin Qamar was the pick of the Multan bowlers with three wickets, while Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, and Peter Siddle claimed one apiece.

Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bowl first against Islamabad United.

Captain Ashton Turner cited favorable conditions for chasing a target.

“Hopefully, it will be easier to chase here,” Turner said after winning the toss, highlighting his team’s confidence in pursuing a target rather than setting one.

Multan Sultans fielded a strong lineup with Turner leading the side alongside Sahibzada Farhan and Steve Smith.

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan expressed excitement over the inclusion of young batting prospect Sameer Manhas, calling him “a very interesting player to watch.”

Other key players in the Islamabad United squad include Masood, Josh Philippe, Mohammad Nawaz, Irfan Manhas, Peter Siddle, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shehzad Gul, and Momin Qamer.
