A proposal to shift the bills from commercial to domestic tariff is under consideration.

School Education Department has contacted the government and the Energy Department.

A big decision is expected in view of financial difficulties.

A large part of the non-salary budget is spent on electricity bills.

The School Education Department releases Rs16 billion annually for electricity bills.

Despite the budget, schools are facing financial pressure.

Private schools have also demanded a change in tariff.

After the government, private educational institutions are also waiting for relief.

There are more than 38,000 government schools in Punjab while around 100,000 private schools are active across the province.

Educational institutions are expected to get big relief from the tariff change.
