Special survey to identify businesses of illegal Afghans in Punjab completed

A special survey has been conducted to identify businesses of illegal Afghans in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday. 

The survey covered a long list of various businesses and related activities.

According to the survey report, more than 1,000 illegal Afghans turned out to be the owners of businesses worth millions of rupees. 

The details of those working in carpet businesses, cloth markets and dry fruit shops were checked during survey.

The details of truck drivers, security guards and watchmen were also checked.

Restaurants, hotels and online businesses were identified.

The identity details of workers in electronics businesses and brick kilns were checked.

The number of Afghans with valid visas and work permits was 133 while 172 Afghans with valid visas but without work permits were identified. 

As many as 1339 illegal Afghans were found doing business. 

Authorities said work has been started on legalizing and removing the businesses of illegal Afghans.
