Pakistan Covid-19 cases reach 61,227, death toll 1,260

With the addition of 2,076 new confirmed coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, the overall number of infected people in Pakistan jumped to 61,227, the figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Thursday morning showed.

On the other hand, 36 more deaths were also recorded during the same period after which the death toll has now climbed to 1,260.

Meanwhile, a total of 20,231 people have fully recovered from the infection which means there are currently 39,736 active cases in the country.

During the past 24 hours, 8,687 tests were conducted in different parts of the country, raising the overall total number to 508,086.

As far as the region-wise details of infection rate are concerned, 24,206 cases have so far been reported in Sindh. Punjab is second with 22,037 cases followed by 8,483 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 3,616 in Balochistan, 2,015 in Islamabad, 651 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 219 in Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to record the most number of deaths where a total of 425 people have so far died.

During the past 24 hours, most numbers of deaths were reported in Punjab, overtaking Sindh, as the province has reported the death of 381 patients. It is followed by Sindh 380, Balochistan 41, Islamabad 19, Gilgit-Baltistan nine and Azad Kashmir five.
