In an unusual move, the government has transferred the federal finance secretary ahead of the upcoming budget 2021-22, reported 24News HD TV channel on Thursday.

Sources said that Federal Finance Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal, who had taken the charge on December 25, 2020, had developed differences with Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen.

The secretary had sought leave since Shaukat Tareen had taken the charge of the finance ministry. They said that the secretary’s leave application had not been accepted.

“He has been seeking any other charge as a federal secretary. And, now he has been transferred as secretary Industry and Production Division.

Sources said the federal bureaucracy had expressed their surprise over the sudden transfer of the finance secretary ahead of budget. The sources further said Kamran Ali Afzal had a close relationship with an influential person in the Prime Minister House.
