Actress Hina Khawaja Bayat slams Air Sial for poor service
Veteran Pakistani actress and social commentator Hina Khawaja Bayat has raised serious concerns over the declining quality of public and private services in the country, highlighting her recent experience at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport and with domestic airline Air Sial.
Taking to Instagram on Youm-e-Takbeer, a national holiday commemorating Pakistan's nuclear achievements, Bayat expressed her frustration at the lack of basic amenities, particularly the unavailability of water and poor maintenance, at one of the country’s busiest airports.
Known for her thought-provoking commentary and advocacy on social issues, Hina Bayat once again used her platform to highlight the urgent need for improved governance and citizen-focused services, urging not just reflection but action.
“Youm-e-Takbeer – a public holiday, a day of celebration of a national achievement, has sadly turned into one of disappointment,” she wrote.
The actress didn't hold back in her criticism, questioning the nation’s collective complacency in the face of deteriorating services.
“Why have we as a nation become so accepting of poor service, poor systems, poor management, poor maintenance, and unending system & institutional damage?” she said.
Bayat called out Air Sial for alleged mismanagement, though she did not elaborate on the specific issues she faced.
Her comments echo the growing frustration of many citizens who often endure inefficiencies and neglect by both public and private service providers.
She called for accountability and reform: “Because we always try and justify the wrongs and prioritise useless endeavours instead of focusing on the everyday basic needs of the common citizen. It's time we take responsibility & fix things before declaring celebrations!”
