PML-N submits resolution honouring Nawaz Sharif on Youm-e-Takbeer in PA

A resolution congratulating the nation on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer has been formally submitted in the Punjab Assembly, marking the anniversary of Pakistan’s historic nuclear tests that made the country’s defence “invincible.”

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the resolution was moved by PML-N MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt and pays tribute to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his bold leadership and defiance in the face of immense international pressure.

According to the text of the resolution, Nawaz Sharif firmly rejected a $5 billion offer from the United States to refrain from testing nuclear weapons, saying “Absolutely not” and instead prioritising national sovereignty and security over foreign incentives or threats.

The resolution emphasises that Pakistan responded to India’s five nuclear tests with six of its own, thereby establishing a strategic balance in the region and reinforcing the country’s defensive capabilities as unassailable.

"Youm-e-Takbeer is a symbol of Pakistan’s unwavering resolve and its leadership’s commitment to national defence," the resolution reads. It further highlights that the decision made under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership demonstrated true independence and a refusal to bow to global pressure.

This parliamentary acknowledgement comes as the nation commemorates the day with pride and reflection, celebrating a defining moment in Pakistan's history that cemented its status as a nuclear power.
