PDMA DG directs round-the-clock monitoring amid ongoing heatwave in Punjab
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Umar Javed visited the authority’s control room on Thursday to review preparedness measures and monitoring arrangements amid the ongoing heatwave across Punjab, 24NewsHD TV reported.
During the visit, the DG PDMA was briefed by staff on heatwave alerts, the monitoring system, and response mechanisms in place to deal with extreme weather conditions.
Officials informed him that the current spell of intense heat is expected to continue until May 31.
Umar Javed directed authorities to maintain 24-hour monitoring and ensure timely public awareness to help people stay safe during the heatwave.
The PDMA DG further inspected the establishment of heatstroke centres and reviewed the medical and emergency facilities being provided to the public during the severe weather conditions.
