Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday said PPP will return each and every sacked worker of Pakistan Steel Mills back to the work.

In a tweet, Bilawal Bhutto said, “The heartless government’s sacked 4500 workers of Pakistan Steel Mills. PPP will return each & everyone back to work.”

He further said, “The land of this historical industrial asset belongs to the people of Sindh, we will not let the PTI get away with this economic murder.”

Bilawal said, “Sack Imran not workers.”

Earlier, Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) terminated 4,544 employees, including the Divisional and Assistant Managers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The TV channel reported that staff belonging to category 2, 3 and 4 pay groups have been dismissed from their jobs.

A PSM spokesperson said termination letters were sent to the employees through the post. He clarified that the staff of Pakistan Steel Mills College and schools have not been sacked and PSM Corporate secretaries were also not terminated.

On hearing the termination news, the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills took to the streets in Karachi and staged a protest against the decision.

Protesters turned the protest into a sit-in and demanded the withdrawal of the decision of termination of thousands of Pakistan Steel Mills employees.
