Broken CCTV cameras raise security concerns ahead of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Urs

Serious security concerns have emerged at the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) as 80 out of 200 CCTV cameras installed at the site are reportedly out of order, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.

With the annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint approaching, officials responsible for shrine security have notified the Sindh Auqaf Department about the malfunctioning surveillance system.

Despite repeated alerts, sources claim much of the CCTV network remains non-functional.

SSP Jamshoro Muhammad Zafar Siddique Changa conducted a surprise inspection of the CCTV control room and took immediate notice of the situation.

He directed the Auqaf Department to ensure that all cameras are restored before the start of the Urs celebrations.

During the inspection, a policeman assigned to shrine security was found using a mobile phone while on duty.

The SSP ordered a two-day salary deduction as disciplinary action, stressing that personnel deployed at sensitive locations must remain vigilant at all times.

“The security of the shrine is essential and policemen here should not use mobile phones while on duty,” SSP Changa instructed.
