Kasur heart specialist suffers attack as hospital lacks life-saving injection

A shocking medical failure unfolded at District Baba Bulleh Shah Hospital in Kasur Friday when senior cardiologist Dr. Shahabuddin suffered a heart attack, only to discover that his own cardiology ward did not have the critical SK clot-dissolving injection required for emergency treatment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Hospital sources said that when Dr. Shahabuddin was rushed to his own ward, the SK injection, essential in the immediate treatment of heart patients, was not available on site. With time running out, the medication had to be procured from a private hospital located 25 kilometres away.

Staff revealed that many cardiac patients have previously lost their lives due to the hospital’s repeated shortage of SK injection.

The incident has sparked outrage in medical circles and raised serious questions about resource management and accountability.

The Chief Executive Officer Health said Dr Shahabuddin had suffered a heart attack and he had no knowledge of the injection in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent said that the deputy MS withheld information from him regarding the doctor’s condition and that action would be taken.

The MS further acknowledged that SK injection stocks had been available only three days ago, but supplies had run out and were not replenished in time, leaving the hospital without a critical emergency drug.
