PTI leaders seek NA speaker’s help for meeting with Imran Khan
Ayaz Sadiq says legal complications are involved in notifying Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas as leaders of Opposition in NA and Senate
A Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) delegation consisting of senior leaders called on National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Islamabad on Friday and “sought his help” in arranging a meeting with incarcerated party chairman Imran Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PTI leaders also complained about the delay in notifying the leaders of the Opposition in Senate and the National Assembly.
In response, Ayaz Sadiq said if PTI sends name of alternate leader then it would be considered.
According to sources, the PTI delegation also sought NA speaker’s help in arranging a meeting with jailed Imran Khan.
They said the speaker’s office should play a role as they were not able to meet PTI founder in prison.
To which Ayaz Sadiq assured them of playing a role for the meeting. “Give me time until Monday, then I will get back to you,” he added.
About notifying Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas as leaders of the Opposition in both the house, the NA speaker said the notifications cannot be issued as there were legal complications involved, the sources said.
Upon which, the PTI leaders said for deciding on giving alternate names for the Senate and National Assembly posts they would like to consult the party founder. “Without meeting Imran Khan, they cannot give new names,” the sources quoted the PTI leaders as saying.
