A court in Lahore has issued bailable arrest warrants of Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication, in a defamation suit filed by a private company, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A session court in Lahore on Thursday issued the arrest warrants as no representative of Shahbaz Gill appeared in the court.

“We waited for the whole day but no one bothered to appear in court. In this situation, the court issues arrest warrants of Shahbaz Gill,” ruled the judge.

The court has now ordered Shahbaz Gill to appear before it in his personal capacity on November 1 after submitting surety bonds of Rs30,000.

Additional Sessions Judge Hasnain Azhar Shah heard the case of the private company which had filed the defamation case against Shahbaz Gill for levelling baseless and false allegations against the company in a TV programme.

The petitioner had pleaded that the baseless allegations had caused it loss of millions.
