Senior journalist, anchorperson and Chief Editor 24News Salim Bokhari has said the media needs to be educated first on the issue of climate change.

His comments came during a panel discussion "Communicating the Climate Crisis in a Warming World," on the sidelines of International Conference Pakistan Water Week 2022 that was held in Islamabad. 

Pakistan is recently facing unprecedented floods and harsh weather due to climate change and there is indeed a need to sensitise the public and the media can play important role in this regard.

However, Salim Bokhari was of the view that it was first necessary to familiarize media persons with the issue so that they could communicate the message to the public in an efficient way.

“It is equally important to develop messaging in local languages so that the media can easily disseminate among the public. The media can do more to sensitize the masses on the climate crisis if it is provided with the desired information," noted Salim Bokhari.
