JUI chief Maulana Fazl reaches Quetta today

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman reached Quetta on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Senator Kamran Murtaza Advocate, former MNA Asghar Tareen, and other central and provincial party leaders received the JUI chief at the airport.

During his stay in Quetta, Maulana Fazl will hold meetings with party leaders. He will also address the Al-Aqsa Storm Conference at Hockey Ground on Sunday.

For the last few days, the JUI-F chief has changed his political stance and has been calling upon all political parties to create space for each other despite having differences of opinion.

In a statement last week, the JUI chief said that the time had come for politicians and political parties to show maturity in order to strengthen the political atmosphere and democratic traditions.

On Thursday, the Maulana met a delegation of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) which paid a visit to his residence to condole the death of his mother-in-law.

The PTI delegation included former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Ali Mohammad Khan, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, and Junaid Akbar.

Later, Barrister Saif revealed the details of the meeting. He said both the PTI leaders and Maulana Fazl agreed that elections in the country should be held on time and in a free, fair, and transparent manner and that all political parties should have a level playing field.

He said that the JUI-F chief had already declared that the treatment being meted out to the PTI chairman was not appropriate and that the delegation expressed gratitude to the Maulana over his remarks.

Barrister Saif further said that more meetings with the JUI chief might take place, adding that they visited the Maulana in line with a decision taken by the PTI’s core committee in a recent meeting.
