Bilawal meets Meta delegation, briefed on AI and Instagram teen safety features
Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met Saram Aziz, Public Policy Director for Central and South Asia at Meta Platforms Inc., during a meeting held at Zardari House, Islamabad.
During the meeting, the Meta delegation briefed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the latest developments in Meta AI and new safety features being introduced for Instagram teen accounts.
According to the briefing, Instagram accounts for children will include strict safety measures — including restrictions on sending messages, automatic filtering of inappropriate language, and time limits on app usage. “After one hour of usage, a message will prompt users to close the app,” the delegation informed.
Both sides also discussed potential legislation concerning artificial intelligence (AI) and digital regulation.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the efforts to ensure online safety for young users, calling the development “good news for parents concerned about their children’s digital training.”
He said Pakistan’s youth are embracing technological changes with responsibility and confidence. “Our young generation is accepting the changes brought by AI responsibly. Pakistan’s youth are fully prepared to face the digital era,” Bilawal stated.
