EAD briefs National Assembly Standing Committee on loans
Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali Tuesday presided a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV.
The Economic Affairs Division told the committee that Pakistan’s total external debt was $ 96 billion in June 2018 that rose to more than $122.44 billion.
The Paris Club has a total debt of $3.78 billion, including more than $2.97 billion in debt and an interest rate of $81.4 million.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Paris Club gave relief on loans. We got relief because we couldn’t pay back loans.
PML-N member Aisha Ghaus Pasha posed the question that “The government made a promise with the IMF, a dollar should be kept up to Rs 172 or Rs 174. What are the losses due to devaluation of rupee?”
Secretary Economic Affairs Asad Hayauddin said that the statistics regarding loans are unstable and the in-camera briefing will be given to the committee.
