Momina Mustehsan, a well-known singer of Pakistan who became famous by singing ‘Afreen Afreen’ alongside Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has spoken up about the Transgender Bill.
In a Twitter post, Momina Mustehsan said “Trans Act protects the fundamental rights of over 300,000 Pakistani human beings just to access education, healthcare, employment, right to vote, inherit and own property. These are rights every human alive should have regardless of gender. Is that so bad?”
Fans have made a lot of comments against this post. Addressing Momina, a Twitter user wrote that they will never support her on this matter.
Momina reminded people that it’s not about you and me through her reply, “I’m sure you don’t believe in denying humans the right to go to school, have a dignified job, own property and have ID cards. It’s not about supporting me, it’s about supporting those that have not been allowed to exist as humans like you and I, and excluded from our social fabric.” She wrote.
However, Momina Mustehsan did not mention the marriage issue in the tweet which led to such comments where people felt the need to tell her about that.
A user replied to the singer, “My dear I hope u r not mixing up in transgender and transsexuals.” He said that, “Transgender should have each and every right. I agree. But that Trans community is against our beliefs and against nature. Will u support men to men marriages or vice versa?”
