Corrupt immigration staff caught sending money and messages abroad: Mobile phone evidence links to foreign transactions found

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested immigration officials at Islamabad Airport for sending illegal funds and messages abroad, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to the report, during a routine check, two officers were found exceeding their official powers, and their mobile phones were confiscated on the spot.

ASI Nadeem Irshad and Head Constable Mujahid Ali were caught carrying mobile phones while on duty, which is strictly prohibited.

The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle has registered a case against the accused. Evidence from the recovered phones indicated illegal transactions being sent to the Philippines and Uzbekistan.

According to the case file, each individual was reportedly demanding bribes of Rs50,000.

Investigations also revealed close ties between the arrested officials and illegal immigration agents.

The FIA has vowed to pursue the matter rigorously to curb corruption within the airport’s immigration system.
