The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on Sunday welcomed the declaration issued at the conclusion of a meeting of four countries, China, Russia, Iran and Pakistan, in which they had opposed the setting up of military bases by a foreign country on its soil, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Hamdullah Fitrat, Vice Spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said that his country welcomed the statement given by the four countries at a meeting held a few days back.

He made it clear that neither the Afghan soil would be allowed to be used against any country, nor would any militant outfit be allowed to operate from inside Afghanistan.

Fitrat further said that the allegation that Afghanistan posed a threat to other countries was also baseless.

He went on to say that the Islamic Emirate was taking concrete steps against corruption, drug smuggling and other offences. “This is because we consider it our responsibility.”

The vice spokesman said that his country wanted to cultivate good relations with all countries, based on mutual respect.

“This is a fact that Afghanistan attaches importance to good relations with all countries because it wants to progress and ensure its stability and security,” Fitrat said, adding that all allegations against Afghanistan were rejected.

Again, referring to the declaration, the vice spokesman said it was stated in it that the role of regional alliances such as the Moscow Format and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization could be pivotal for the resolution of the issues confronting the Islamic Emirate.

Fitrat expressed the hope that the joint statement issued on Afghanistan could lead to new chances for peace and stability in the region.
