Nine more flights to bring back British nationals stuck in Pakistan: Turner

British High Commissioner in Pakistan Dr Christian Turner said that Monday was the end of our first ten charter flights from Pakistan.
“I am glad that around 2,500 British travellers have been able to return home on these flights; this is in addition to the more than 14,000 people who have now returned to the UK on commercial routes since March 21,” the British diplomat said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Dr Turner said: “Nine further flights — including one from Karachi — begin from tomorrow; an updated flight schedule was published today. This should enable us to bring back thousands more British travellers to be with their loved ones during this holy month of Ramazan.
“At this point, we do not expect there to be any more charter flights after these. So my first message to all those who would like to return home is: take the opportunity now. Registration for our flights closes on May 15.”
Dr Turner said: “My second message is a request to help us get as many people home as possible. We know that notice of some flights has been short. But some passengers have cancelled tickets with little notice, or not turned up to the airport — this leaves insufficient time to fill seats, and is unfair to others waiting. If you fail to show up for a flight on which you have been allocated a seat, you may not be offered one on a future flight. If you no longer want a seat on one of our charters, please contact CTM by emailing CTM.CharterCancellations@travelctm.com to cancel your registration as soon as possible.”
The British diplomat thanked all who were supporting to deliver this complex operation. “These are extraordinary times which require extraordinary efforts. The personal stories I have heard have been touching and I am grateful to everyone who has taken the time and reached out to say thank you to the team,” he added.
