Shehbaz Sharif promises MQM-P of addressing census concerns 

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Saturday said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the party that every single person would be counted in the digital census of Karachi. 

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, a meeting of the Rabita Committee of the MQM-P under the chairmanship of Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was held in Karachi on Saturday. 

The members of the Rabita Committee were briefed by the MQM delegation who met with the Prime Minister in Islamabad the other day for addressing its reservations regarding the latest digital census.  

Senior deputy convenors Syed Mustafa Kamal, Dr. Farooq Sattar and Nasreen Jalil, deputy convenors Anees Qaimkhani, Abdul Waseem, Kahf Alwari, and other members of the Rabita Committee (Coordination Committee) participated in the meeting.

According to the sources, the Committee was told that the delegation presented its case on the census in Islamabad with proof and evidence to the higher authorities including the Prime Minister.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the MQM-P delegation to address its complaints. The PM also thanked the delegation for pointing out the errors and identifying the deficiencies in carrying out the census exercise,” the delegation apprised the members. 

Our apprehensions and concerns have been fully justified as per the results of the digital census so far. 

The delegation vowed that all the high officials and officers including the Prime Minister expressed their concern over the facts presented by us. 

The prime minister said that the MQM-P informed the relevant ministers and institutions about the errors in time, which made it possible to count every citizen correctly.

In the meeting, it was agreed to work together to solve the problems identified by the MQM-P in the census. The PM asked the relevant federal ministers and institutions to sit with the MQM-P and work together to solve these problems. 

MQM also demanded that the process of the census should be continued until every house and every person is enumerated.

The Prime Minister and other relevant officials assured that every single person will be counted in the census, the sources said.
