Acting President approves transfer of three Islamabad High Court judges

Acting President Yousaf Raza Gilani has approved the transfer of three judges from the Islamabad High Court, with the Ministry of Law and Justice issuing an official notification to implement the decision.

According to the notification, Senior Judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has been transferred to the Lahore High Court.

Meanwhile, Justice Babar Sattar has been moved to the Peshawar High Court, and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz has been transferred to the Sindh High Court.

The transfers come in the wake of a decision taken earlier this week by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, which approved the move by a majority vote. The commission’s meeting was chaired by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi.

According to sources, nine members of the commission voted in favor of the transfers, while four opposed the decision, reflecting a divided opinion within the body.
