FBR approves major increase in performance allowance for Inland Revenue staff

In a significant development for tax officials, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has approved a substantial increase in performance allowance for Inland Revenue employees demonstrating strong performance, reported 24NEWSHD TV channel Wednesday.

According to official sources, the enhanced allowance will apply to both gazetted officers and non-gazetted staff. Under the revised structure, eligible employees may receive an additional 18 to 24 salaries annually as part of the performance-based incentive.

The allowance will be awarded to employees who show outstanding results in key areas, including tax collection, enforcement actions, and efforts to expand the tax net, along with contributions in other relevant departments.

The decision comes in response to long-standing demands by employees for an increase in performance-based incentives, aimed at boosting motivation and improving overall efficiency within the tax administration system.
