K-Electric's unpaid dues ballooned to Rs365bn till February 2026

The unpaid dues owed by K-Electric to the government have dramatically increased, reaching Rs. 365 billion by February 2026, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Wednesday.

According to documents, an increase of Rs147 billion was recorded in the outstanding dues of K-Electric during the first eight months of the current fiscal year.

The documents further revealed that from June 2025 to February 2026, the government dues reached Rs147 billion.

The outstanding dues of the government against K-Electric were also enhanced to Rs135 billion from February 2025 to February 2026.

The actual outstanding amount against K-Electric is Rs169 billion, while Rs195 billion is payable by K-Electric under the head of interest.

In June 2025, an amount of Rs230 billion was outstanding against K-Electric. These dues occurred as electricity was provided to K-Electric from the National Grid.
