The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of rain and severe conditions across Azad Jammu and Kashmir from April 30 to May 3, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
According to the authority, wind and rain are expected in several areas, including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Jhelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli, Poonch, and Sudhnoti.
The SDMA has cautioned residents, particularly those living near rivers and waterways, to remain vigilant and avoid approaching areas where water levels may rise. It warned that the prevailing weather system could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Authorities have directed rescue agencies, the highways department, and medical services to remain on high alert to respond to any emergency situation.
The disaster management body also advised travellers and tourists to plan journeys to upper hilly areas in accordance with weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel without adequate safety precautions.
