Petrol, diesel prices likely to go up from September 1
The government is considering another increase in the prices of petroleum products from September 1.
According to sources, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has recommended an increase of Rs7 per litre in the price of petrol and Rs8 per litre in the price of diesel. The Ogra has suggested this increase in the petrol price on the basis of Rs30 per litre petroleum levy. Currently, the government is charging Rs26.70 petroleum levy on every litre of petrol and Rs25.73 levy on every litre of diesel.
Sources say the Ogra has also suggested some increase in the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel. The government is likely to increase the prices of petroleum products from September 1. In this regard, a summary by the Ogra has already been sent to the Petroleum Division.
