CM Murad Ali Shah visits Manchar Lake to gauge flood risk

CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah Monday visited one of the biggest freshwater lakes in Pakistan ‘Manchar Lake’ where he was briefed by SE Shafaqat from the irrigation department, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to details, authorities of the irrigation department briefed CM Sindh about the current situation and water level of barrages and said that Guddu barrage has a water flow of 500944 cusecs whereas Sukkur barrage has a water flow of 530750 cusecs. There is a crack near the Jatoi Goth on the Supreo Dam and the FP barrage has also developed four cracks near Chaki.
They further added that 2 cracks have been developed in Suprio Bund in front of Mehar and Khairpurnathan Shah on RD 12 and Dar D 52 and Juhi Branch has been cut off on RD 82 to divert water discharge.
“Water level in Manchar lake rose to 120.75 feet. The risk will be greater if water flow rises to 123 feet,” a spokesperson for the water resources told CM Sindh.
Likewise, CM Murad Ali Shah expressed his optimism in this regard and said that the water level in Manchhar will decrease in the next 8 days.
