Petition filed to lift ban on MQM’s Altaf Hussain

Former Sindh Assembly member Nisar Ahmed Monday filed a petition in the Sindh High Court to lift the ban on founder MQM Altaf Hussain’s media coverage, reported 24 News HD TV Channel.

Federal Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Law, Ministry of Information and PEMRA have been made parties in the petition.

It is pleaded in the application that the founder MQM is a patriotic Pakistani. He also ran a charity organization. The welfare organization helped millions of widows, orphans, and the poor. 

The ban on founder MQM is a violation of articles 4, 17, 19 and 25 of the Constitution. 

The petitioner has contacted the concerned authorities many times for lifting the ban but no action was taken. 

The founding MQM should be allowed to carry out political and welfare activities in the country, and restrictions imposed on him should be lifted, it added.
