Direct air links between Pakistan and Bangladesh restored
First flight of Biman Airlines from Dhaka lands at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport
Direct air links between Pakistan and Bangladesh have been restored, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral connectivity and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The first flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Dhaka landed at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, carrying 150 passengers. The arrival of the flight was seen as a milestone in the resumption of direct air travel after a long gap.
Officials said the restoration of direct flights will facilitate travel for businesspersons, families, and tourists, while also promoting trade and cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has resumed flights to Karachi after a gap of 14 years, marking the restoration of direct air connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said on Thursday.
The first direct flight, BG-341, arrived from Dhaka at Jinnah International Airport, where it was welcomed with a traditional water salute upon landing.
According to the PAA, the resumption of the route opens a new chapter in Pakistan-Bangladesh friendship and is expected to strengthen people-to-people contacts, trade, and travel between the two countries.
A high-level reception was also held at the airport to mark the occasion, celebrating the return of Biman Airlines to Karachi after more than a decade.
