Youm-e-Ashur observed with great sense of somberness

Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Moharram-ul-Haram, is being marked on Saturday across the country with a great sense of somberness to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions in Karbala. The president and the prime minister have called upon the nation to uphold the values and principles that the battle of Karbala represents, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

To mark Ashura, mourning processions will be taken out today in all cities and towns of the country.

Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident during the mourning processions.

Processions were taken out in different areas of the country in connection with Youm-e-Ashur.

In Karachi, the main procession of the 10th of Muharram was taken out from Nishtar Park.

Strict security arrangements were made on the route of the procession.

Police, Rangers, and the officials of other law enforcement agencies were deployed on the route of the procession.

The procession will pass through MA Jinnah Road, the Radio Pakistan building, and Bolton Market.

The participants will offer Zuhr prayers at the Tibet Centre. The procession will end at Kharadar Hussainiya Iraniyan Imambargah.

In Lahore, the main procession of Youm-e-Ashur was taken out from Nisar Haveli.

The procession will reach Karbala Gamay Shah after passing through its fixed routes. A large number of devotees participated in the procession and performed self-flagellation.

In Multan, the main procession of Ashura was taken out from Astana Lal Shah. A large number of people attended the procession.

In Jhang, an ancient Ta’zieh was displayed in Mohalla Dabakran for the devotees.

In Sehwan, the main mourning procession of Ashura Day was taken out from Hussaini Imambargah.

A large number of mourners participated in the procession, and they chanted slogans of Ya Hussain, Ya Hussain.

The participants of the procession were offered ‘niaz’ and drinks on the route of the procession.

In Tharparkar, the main mourning procession was taken out from Maluk Shah Imambargah. The procession will reach Shi’b-e-Abi Talib Imambargah after passing through different routes.

In Peshawar, Youm-e-Ashur was observed and mourning processions were taken out from different areas. Rescue 1122 established camps in Jahangirpura, Kohati, Khanum Market, Wadpaga and Gulbahar. Besides, rescue medical teams and ambulances were also present with the mourning processions.

In Quetta, the main mourning procession of Ashura was taken out from Nichari Imambargah at Alamdar Road. The procession will culminate on Alamdar Road in the evening after passing through its conventional route.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), mourning processions were taken out from different areas. In the state capital Muzaffarabad and adjourning areas, 10 mourning processions were taken out from different Imambargahs which joined the main mourning procession.

The main procession was taken out from Markazi Imam Bargah Pir EIam Shah Bukhari. After passing through various parts of the city, it culminated at Imam Bargah Pir EIam Shah Bukhari before the sunset. Sham e Ghariban will be held at the central imam bargah tonight.

In Gilgit, the main procession was taken out from Central Mosque which after passing through traditional routes culminated at the same place.

The participants offered Zuhr prayers at Capt Zameer Abbas Chowk in the city. Majalis of Shame Ghariban will be organised in imambargahas at night.

President, PM urge nation to uphold values representing Hazrat Imam Hussain’s (RA) sacrifice

Meanwhile, remembering the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have urged the nation to uphold the values and principles that the battle of Karbala represents.

In their separate messages to commemorate Ashura, the President and the Prime Minister said the incident of Karbala gives a message to Muslims that they should be ready to offer any sacrifice for the promotion of the high values and principles of Islam.

The President said the companions of Imam Hussain (RA) taught us the importance of loyalty, righteousness and supporting those who struggle for truth and justice.

He said we should give up personal luxuries and desires for the greater good of society and the betterment of humanity.

The Prime Minister in his message said this day reminds us that standing against oppression is a moral duty of a Muslim.

He said Imam Hussain's (RA) sacrifice teaches us the priceless lesson of unshakable faith, righteousness and justice.

The Prime Minister said we should learn from Imam Hussain's (RA) sacrifice to deal with the challenges and trials that our nation and the entire Muslim Ummah are facing today.
